Extracting a Tooth
Jessie has a broken canine tooth. The root is infected and it will not allow for a root canal and crown restoration. The only option is to extract the tooth. The canine tooth is one of the largest teeth in the dog. You can see how large the root is. It extends up just under the sinuses.

A flap is created

This prevents food from getting into the nasal passages.

Completed extraction
Toby is a sweet Miniature Schnauzer who fractured his tooth. This usually happens when dogs are given chew treats that are too hard. Chew treats to avoid are: Cow Hooves, Hard Nylon, and yes, rocks.

Fractured carnassial
Toby was anesthetized and the tooth was cut into sections with our high speed drill. This expensive tool helps us to extract teeth faster and safer than with hand instruments.
